Living Example

Rabbi Yosef

Age 64

A man with open arms, Rabbi Yosef welcomes all questions, challenges and request. As per a brief phone conversation he immediately responded to our request regarding insightful wisdom with a story.

“Everything is Divine Providence. On a recent plane trip we were greeted by one of the flight attendants with a friendly 'Boker Tov' (Hebrew for good morning)'. We then had a wonderful conversation and learned that she was familiar with the Chassidic movement. She then told us that there was another Rabbi and his wife on that same flight. We met the other Rabbi and found that they were from North Carolina traveling to the same place as we were. That's Divine Providence.”

“The flight attendant asked where we were from, and was happy to know there was a Jewish community in our area. If she would ever visit our area she knows she has a place to stay. Divine Providence!”

“People live by what you do, not what you say. Showing by example how one should perform the Mitzvos and how we act towards one another. The Scripture says; “You shall love your fellow as yourself” and the rest is all commentary. The best way is by being a living example.“ Rabbi learned from the example and the tradition set forth by his parents, grandparents and great grandparents.

"Rebbe Schneerson once said to the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, (who was the ambassador to the UN at the time), 'You are the ambassador in a very dark place. When you light a candle it will light up the dark place. That is your job in the UN, to light up the dark.' Just a little candle can illuminate a whole room. That is a message for each and every one of us, not just the Prime Minister, but every person, every human being can bring light wherever he or she may be.”

Continuing he shared, “Actions speak louder than words. The more good that one does the more of the darkness will be eliminated. Be a shining example!” Concluding with a smiling encouragement, “The darkness should inspire us to do more good deeds”.

Positiveness

The Rabbis wife shared encouraging words as well.
“Be positive, look at everything in a good light. Keep a positive attitude and look for the good in everything because everything is good! Respect others and agree to disagree.”
