Acknowledging G-d

Jerry

Age 83

The sadness of losing Beth within the last year, unleashes a stream of tears as Jerry admits, “It is very lonely without anybody”. They shared an incredible ten years together having much of the same interests. Her last year was very difficult in as much as Jerry wanted to alleviate her physical and circumstantial pain.

“I wanted to change her situation”, and indeed he tried to no avail, “but, now I am thankful”, as he relates G-d’s orchestration in Beth’s circumstances. Looking back, he realizes there was a hidden blessing in the provisions of her last year. “Let G-d take His way….Whatever G-d wants to happen will happen for a good reason. I miss her badly; yet, I’m thankful she didn’t suffer.”

Wiping the tears from his eyes, he smiled and chuckled saying, “When I go, I’m either going to get run over by a big deer when I’m out hunting in the woods or a big fish is going to pull me in and drown me”. Humor is a big part of Jerry’s life and emitting a laugh is a great joy.

“I also thank G-d for the knowledge He gave me to be successful in business and the ability to help my sons in their businesses, getting them started.”

Wanting to leave us with a cheerful heart, Jerry concluded with, “The reason my neck is so short is because when people ask me a question, I say, ‘I don’t know’”, as he shrugged his shoulders up to his ears. Admitting ‘you don’t know’ is a good lesson all by itself that we can and should learn from.
